Meet Hannah

our therapy space together

What to Expect From Me:
My counseling style is warm and empathetic while providing you the opportunity to act on your insights and experience true change.

My presence is described as calm, confident and clear. We will move at a pace that feels safe for you.

I primarily work with college students, young professionals and adolescents.

My Experience:
I have completed level one and level two trainings in Internal Systems Family (IFS). I am currently receiving consultation to become IFS certified and continue to seek continuing education opportunities to improve my proficiency in IFS.

In the past, I have worked at an agency setting providing CORE-based therapy services in schools and homes. I have worked with a community mental health agency run through the University of Georgia and have provided services to individuals with developmental disabilities. I spent three years working at a non-profit counseling agency in Watkinsville, GA.  I opened Laurel Magnolia Counseling in March of 2020 with the goal of serving students, young professionals and adolescents in the Athens, Georgia area.

I have experience working with clients in the areas of ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, relational issues, family issues, boundary setting, spiritual direction and LGBTQ+.

In addition to my professional experience, I have experienced (and continue to experience) personal growth through therapy that has increased my empathy and understanding for both myself and my clients.

My Education and Licensure:
I have a M.Ed in Professional Counseling with an emphasis in Community Counseling from the University of Georgia. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in English and BS in Psychology and am proud to be a Double Dawg! I am a licensed professional counselor in the State of Georgia. I am licensed to do telehealth in the the state of Florida and Vermont. I have completed my level one and two of IFS training and am in ongoing IFS consultation.

I am available for individual sessions by appointment only. I do offer free 15-minute phone consultations, so reach out if you feel like we might be a good fit to work together!

a compassionate approach

My experience informs my perspective to be non-pathologizing and welcoming to all parts of you - even the ones you've learned to be ashamed of. This means that my counseling office is free of shame. I am responsible for taking care of myself outside of therapy so that you don't feel the need to be the caretaker in the therapy room.
